Big White Ski Resort Wraps Up Successful Summer 2025 Season

Posted On: September 03, 2025 |
Big White Ski Resort has capped off a strong 2025 summer season, welcoming thousands of visitors for more than two months of lift-assisted biking, alpine hiking, live music, food and community events.

“We saw people predominantly from Western Canada and Washington state,” said Michael J. Ballingall, senior vice-president at Big White Ski Resort. “Lift-assisted mountain biking tickets are up, as are our scenic chairlift ride tickets. It’s clear that summer at Big White continues to grow, inspiring visitors to enjoy everything our resort  has to offer while discovering the unique alpine environment that lies beneath the snow.”

Highlights of the 2025 season included upgrades at Bike Big White, the launch of the resort’s first mountaintop concert, sold-out dining events, and fundraising initiatives that supported local organizations.

Bike Big White

Trail crews carried out one of the largest upgrade programs in recent years. A new bike wash station was installed in the village and multiple trails were rebuilt or improved.

Key projects included:

  • Gecko and Squirt’s, fully rebuilt, with Squirt’s gaining a new wooden walkway.
  • Hubba Bubba, rerouted and improved with new rideable features.
  • Black Slabbath, Rockhammer and Knockout, each upgraded with new features and modifications.
  • Upper Stacked Deck, expanded with progressive blue-level jumps and a new wood feature.
  • A new beginner skills park in the village.
  • Catapult Ranch, rerouted to improve flow while maintaining technical character.

Catapult Ranch also hosted the 2025 BC Cup Championships from Aug. 22–24. The course featured steep slabs and high-speed technical sections, earning praise from riders and spectators.

Work is already underway on a new blue trail under the Bullet Chair and a skills park above Brown Shack Road, expected to debut next season. Two more trail segments are planned for completion by 2027.

Events and entertainment

Big White launched Music in the Mountains, its first mountaintop concert, on Aug. 17. Guests rode the Bullet Chair to hear Canadian artist Tennyson King perform, with more than 250 people attending. The event will expand to two dates in 2026.

Other events included:

The season wrapped up Sept. 1 with a complimentary pancake breakfast for season passholders over the Labour Day weekend.

Food and beverage

The resort’s food and beverage program had another strong year.

  • The annual Seafood Boil  sold out to 60 guests, paired with wines from Lightning Rock Winery and live music from Billy Wiseman.
  • The first Brewmaster’s Dinner, held with Abandoned Rail Brewing, paired Bavarian-style food with local craft beer.
  • The summer menu drew positive reviews, with favourites including mussels, pesto fries, the Woods Burger and a rotating international rice bowl.

Community and fundraising

Big White’s events also supported local organizations.

  • The Fiv’r Friday race series, supported by Fox Racing, attracted 25–30 riders each week across six races and raised $650 for MTBCo. Fox provided more than $7,000 in prizes and supplies.
  • The third annual Dog Days fundraiser raised over $1,000 for Paws It Forward, a local dog rescue organization. Families, hikers and their pets took part in a day of activities on the mountain.

Big White Ski Resort opens for the winter season on Nov. 27, 2025. The resort is encouraging guests to check its online events calendar for details about upcoming programs and activities.
