Big White Bike Park Pre-Season Update

Posted On: June 04, 2026 |
Summer is almost here, and the trail crew at Bike Big White has been hard at work behind the scenes making sure your first chairlift lap of 2026 is the best one yet.

From new trail connections and infrastructure upgrades to a brand-new Intermediate Skills Park, this season is shaping up to be a landmark year for the park. Here's everything you need to know before opening day on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

Snow Clearing & Opening Day Conditions

Despite a lower-than-average snowpack this year, some of our higher-elevation trails are still buried under snow. Our operations team has been steadily clearing bike trails at elevation, and we expect a few classic winter holdouts to greet riders on opening day, including Upper Hubba Bubba. Rest assured, all priority trails will be rideable come July 1.

What's New Before We Open

Ogopogo Hub Improvements: The start of the Bermslang / Dark Roast / Nessy corridor (AKA the Ogopogo Hub) is getting a significant facelift to accommodate the upcoming Spruce Blues trail expansion. Expect a cleaner, more intuitive hub experience when you roll up to those trails on opening day.

Bermslang Overpass: A new overpass is being constructed at the Intermediate Skills Park for Bermslang, creating a more user-friendly flow at the Brown Shack Road hub. This improvement is designed to reduce trail conflicts and make the experience more accessible for riders of all levels — and it'll be ready before we open.

Nessy Reroute: A small section of Nessy is being rerouted to accommodate the new Intermediate Skills Park in the 2010 lane area. This is a short but meaningful change that helps everything connect cleanly for the season ahead.

General Remediation: As always, the crew is busy addressing winter and spring damage across the network — from erosion repairs to drainage fixes — to set the trail surfaces up for a season of hard riding.

Coming Mid-Season: The Big Stuff

While the pre-season work lays the foundation, the real excitement kicks off shortly after opening day.

Dirt Daddy — New for 2026

The headline addition to the Spruce Blues trail family is Dirt Daddy, a brand-new 1.4 km machine-built singletrack (affectionately dubbed "machingle-track" by the crew). Starting from the Ogopogo Hub, Dirt Daddy winds its way down through a blend of intermediate rock slabs and a roller-coaster-smooth dirt flow trail before finishing just above Brown Shack Road at the last Bullet Creek crossing on Lightning Strike. Target opening: August 1 (with updates if earlier).

About a third of the way down, you'll encounter Spruce Rock — a black diamond rock slab that's visible from the chairlift and set to become one of the park's most iconic features.

Intermediate Skills Park

Big White's new Intermediate Skills Park is a world-class freeride progression area featuring 4 lines ranging from light blue to dark blue, black, and double black. Staged openings begin August 1, with all lines expected to be complete before the end of the season. This park is a game-changer for riders looking to step up their skills in a structured, progressive environment.

Jub-Jub — A New Green Spur-Line

For those just getting started, trail crew has been quietly building Jub-Jub, a green-rated spur-line off the Bumble Bee run (named, naturally, after Aunt Selma's pet lizard). There's no confirmed opening date yet, but the goal is before August 1. Keep an eye out — it may arrive sooner than expected.

Rocket Science Realignment

The badly eroded bottom section of Rocket Science is on the remediation list for this summer. Trail crew will be working on this as the schedule allows, so look forward to a much smoother run through one of the park's classic descents.

On Our Radar: Dark Roast & Bermslang Entrances

Opening day will also bring updates to the Dark Roast and Bermslang entrances, rounding out a strong start to the season across multiple corridors.
