Posted On: September 06, 2023 |
As the sun sets on another incredible summer at Big White Ski Resort, it's time to reflect on the memorable moments and exciting events that defined the season.

The summer adventure kicked off with the bike park and hiking trails opening on June 29. The new Dirt Pass was unveiled, offering three unrestricted days of mountain biking, and visitors captured the first views of a revamped village with shaded chill zones and the modular pump track!

On July 8, Dan Tait kicked off the weekly Summer Music Series in the Village. As the month unfolded, events like the Craft & Country Beer & Music Mountain Festival and Big White's Freeride Days Mountain Bike Festival kept the excitement high.

The sold-out 8th annual Craft and Country Beer and Music Mountain Festival on July 15 was the highlight of the summer for many visitors, with Gary Saturday rocking the Village stage. Thanks to all the vendors for participating in making this year such a great success! Read More...

From July 19 to 22, the Freeride Day MTB festival saw the top global FMB biking athletes competing for top honours. The festival's success was a testament to the athletes' passion and dedication, the sponsors' support, and the sport's beauty. Special thanks to the 2023 key event sponsors, including the Province of British Columbia, Monster Energy and Nor-Val Rentals. Also, a great big thank you to the athletes; with each jaw-dropping trick and gravity-defying jump, the festival reminded us why mountain biking holds a special place in the hearts of fans worldwide. The Summer Music Series continued to present a lineup of great local talent every Saturday throughout the summer, including performances by Rusty Someone & Garrett Scatterty, Bray & Co, and Jon Bos.

For Dog Day at Big White on August 26, visitors celebrated our four-legged friends, raising $1715 for Paws it Forward. Summer's essence was also captured in bike camps, providing enthusiasts an opportunity to learn and enjoy. Throughout August, the resort ran Fiv’r Friday event races presented by Fox Racing to support MTBCO and bike camps, including the Youth MTB Clinic, Norco Dirt Series Mountain Bike Camp and the All Mountain MTB Camp with Elevation Outdoors.

Amidst the festivities, the devastating wildfires brought a challenge to the operations. Stepping up to the task, Big White opened its arms, providing shelter, comfort, and services to over a thousand evacuees. On Sunday, August 20, Big White Ski Resort hosted a fundraising pancake breakfast by donation at the Woods, which over 500 Big White community members and wildfire evacuees attended. The result? Big White Ski Resort delivered a much-needed $1261 cheque to Mamas for Mamas to support their local efforts. Read More...

For the final weekend of the season, Big White provided free lift tickets (by donation to local firefighters) for the bike park or sightseeing for 23/24 season pass holders from August 31 to September 4. The resort capped off the summer while collecting $3159 in donations and recorded the busiest weekend of the season for scenic chairlift passes.
