Welcome to the Big White Ski & Board School

The Big White Ski & Board School offers specialized training programs especially for our destination clients in both a race and/or freestyle environments for aspiring athletes.

Race training starts from introducing gate training, through to developing technically sound turning skills, acquiring the ability to interpret line in a race course, and incrementally adding more advanced skills that raise the competency level of the participating athletes in clear and demonstrable ways. No matter the initial level of the athletes beginning the program, all participants can improve their technique both in and out of specific race settings. The focus on developing the entire skillset of the athletes is an excellent foundation for improved participation at inter-school competitions or domestic club racing.

Our freestyle focused camps are geared to developing an interest and proficiency in the main disciplines of moguls, slope-style, ski/boarder cross and big mountain skiing. Part of the training focus includes improving the complete set of skills necessary to be a better overall skier/rider which nicely corresponds to faster improvements in all the freestyle disciplines.

Our coaches involved with the snow sports camps have international or national certification in the disciplines offered. Each coach’s skill set has been honed from working many seasons and in many cases, coaching back to back seasons in the Northern and Southern hemispheres. During the camps a variety of tools are utilized, including video analysis that ensures an athlete’s development is maximized in a safe and fun environment.

Given the breadth and scope of our coach’s backgrounds combined with the variety of run choices available at Big White, the Snow Sports training camps allow for flexible training schedules in a setting that has the feel of an inviting and intimate resort. With the huge range of terrain, no lift queues, champagne powder, heaps of off-snow activities and resort ambience...no wonder Big White has been named as the 'Best Family Snow Resort' in Canada for years running, as well as a "Top 5 World's Best Family Resort" destination.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, our products and prices may change or vary for the upcoming 2020/21 season as we continue to act in accordance with the instructions of the BC Ministry of Health and other Government officials.

  • How to get here

Even though Big White is half way around the world, it is unbelievably easy to get to Kelowna International Airport (YLW). The following are some of the easiest and most popular options.

AIR CANADA - Big White’s preferred airline travelling from Australia.

Air Canada flies a state of the art Boeing 777 daily from Sydney to Vancouver. They also fly the very popular 787 Dreamliner daily from Brisbane to Vancouver. **NEW** Air Canada recently announced it will now be flying non-stop from Melbourne to Vancouver for winter 2017/18. All three routes arrive Vancouver early in the morning allowing a seamless 45 minute Airbus 320 jet connection to Kelowna.

QANTAS -  Many Australians prefer to fly their national airline. If that is your preference, Qantas offers non-stop service from Sydney to Vancouver December-February. From Vancouver it’s a short 45 connection on code share partner WestJet to Kelowna.

AIR NEW ZEALAND – A very popular option for travel from Australia as they operate non-stop service via Auckland to Vancouver. As with Air Canada and Qantas, connection in Vancouver is seamless. Connections are also available via Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Other popular airlines servicing Kelowna are United, V Australia, and several Asian airlines. For detailed information on the best routing to suit your needs, contact your preferred travel agent professional.
