Snow Day at Big White: Over 40cm in 24 hours
At 5:30am this morning, the count was 29cm of fresh snow in 12 hours. By 10am, we were up to 36cm in 12 hours. That brings us up to a grand total of 43cm in the last 24 hours, and an alpine base of 179cm.
Not that anyone's counting the centimetres - they're too busy enjoying them on the slopes. With 110 runs open and 15 lifts spinning (including the Gem Lake express chair, which opened last week), there are plenty of possibilities for everyone to find some fresh tracks - especially in the trees. And the weather is helping, too - mild temperatures and calm winds are making for a particularly enjoyable skiing and snowboarding experience.
The powder comes just in time for a whole new group of visitors to Big White Ski Resort - our Australian visitors, who are currently leaving their sunny beaches and warm weather to experience a whole new winter wonderland.
