August 23, 2021 - British Columbia launches proof of vaccination to stop spread of COVID-19 – Read more at gov.bc.ca

We have had multiple inquiries about what proof of vaccination/vaccine passport means for our staff and our guests. Big White Ski Resort Ltd and its associated companies will be following all mandates and guidelines as handed down from Federal, Provincial and Regional Authorities. I would remind everyone that the “rules” four weeks ago were very different from the “rules” outlined today. No masks, no travel advisories and almost no cases of the delta variant of COVID19. Now the landscape has changed as the delta variant sweeps the province with the unvaccinated making up the vast majority of infections and hospitalizations. We are committed to offering the most normal season that we can. We have been since we closed early in March 2020. It is our number one priority to get back to a season where the old normal prior to 2020 is the new normal.

So what does yesterday’s announcement mean for the staff, guests, and residents of Big White Ski Resort? Please read the outline from the BC government:  https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/covid-19/vaccine/proof

According to this outline, skiing, snowboarding and other outdoor activities will not require proof of vaccination. However, wearing a mask is still recommended when physically distancing of at least 2 meters cannot be maintained in an outdoor setting. Visiting restaurants, pubs, bars and day lodges (indoors or outdoors) at Big White Ski Resort will require proof of vaccination for those over the age of 12.

If you are worried about your season of skiing and riding in the great outdoors then we encourage you to do your part and be vaccinated. Work with us to make Big White a safe place to work and a safe place to enjoy the best of BC in winter! We have been through two seasons where we have been forced to close early. We don’t want a third.

Thanks everyone for taking the time and reading this. Thank you from all of us at Big White for all the support that has been shown. I am sure there will be more updates in the near future.

President

Q: Where's the village pump track?
A: With space needed in the village for facilities vital to our operations under new guidelines this year, we are unable to provide a pump track in the village centre this season. The Beginner Skills Area will be open to the public and a great place for kids and adults alike to build their skills.

Q: Will there be a bike valet available?
A: To ensure the safety of our guests and staff, we have had to adapt some of our operations and are unable to offer this service. Bike storage is available through your accommodation booking with Big White Central Reservations.

Q: What are the changes to the lift and loading procedures?
A: The Bullet Chair (which is a 4 person chairlift) for regular biking operations has a max capacity of 2 bikes and 2 riders per chair. Arrive together, ride together. If you do not wish to load with someone outside of your group, you are free to load as a single rider. Please practice physical distancing for those outside your group in lift lines and throughout the bike park. Masks are recommended when physical distancing is not able to be maintained, or at each individuals comfort level.

Q: Do I have to book bike lift tickets online or in advance?
A: No, we have not limited the number of day tickets available so prepurchase is not necessary. The ticket desk on mountain this summer will operate out of building adjacent to the Village Centre Mall. Look for signage upon arrival in the village and follow the processes in place upon arrival. Please note that we have gone cashless. For more information on the purchase and waivers for bike ticket and pass products please see here >>

A: The Free Ride Guide program will not be available this season. If you are new to mountain biking or the bike park, we suggest booking a lesson through our Bike School.
