Kids in Motion Family Day at Big White- Incredible Turnout!
Big White Ski Resort hosted over 150 individuals and families in Happy Valley for Kids in Motion’s Annual Family Day, Sunday, March 2nd. Kids in Motion is a program of the Kelowna & District Society for People in Motion. It was put into place in the Central Okanagan in order to promote adaptive sport, recreation and active living opportunities for children with disabilities.
Powderhounds is a program operated from Big White Ski Resort offering unique skiing and recreation opportunities for physically and sensory challenged individuals. Through the Powderhounds program with Kids in Motion, Big White was able to host this fun, family friendly event at Canada’s Favorite Family Resort.
The event took place between 11:00am and 4:00pm in the Happy Valley Day Lodge and the surrounding areas in the Happy Valley Adventure Park. The Family Day event activities included: sit skiing, skating on North America’s highest skating rink, tubing, snow shoeing and Sleigh Rides.
Big White’s lovable mascot, the Loose Moose even made an appearance during lunchtime where a hot lunch was provided for all the registered children.
“We would like to say a huge thank you to Big White Ski Resort for being a major sponsor. We are so happy that over 160 participants were able join us for today’s event and had the opportunity to discover so many different snow sports.” commented Louise Abbott, Executive Director of People in Motion.
