Big White Ski Resort Chosen to Host FIPS 2014
The Canadian Ski Patrol (CSC) has been chosen to host the 2014 FIPS (Federation Internationale des Patrouilles de Ski) Conference and they have decided upon Big White Ski Resort as their host resort of choice. Big White Ski Resort is happy to host such an event that has over 100 delegates from 13 nations from around the world visiting our pristine winter paradise.
The conference opened with a flag ceremony, Sunday, March 30th. All 13 nations that are currently at the resort for the conference were represented. Bruce Lockhead, President of FIPS, spoke at the podium and welcomed all the delegates to Big White Ski Resort.
“Hats off to Tom Tull, FIPS Congress Organizing Chair, for introducing the FIPS to the Okanagan Valley”, commented Michael J Ballingall, Senior Vice President of Big White Ski Resort. “This is only the second time in its 100 year history that FIPS has been hosted at a North American resort.”
Attendees of the FIPS 2014 Conference will cover an array of topics including avalanche awareness, first aid advancements, search and rescue etc. The week long Congress will also have a trade show component which is open to the public Monday, March 31st between 7-10am in the Big White Village Centre Mall.
