What To Pack

You may have some members of your group who are packing for a winter ski vacation for the very first time.

We have put together a list of all of the recommended items required for an enjoyable and warm trip to Big White Ski Resort. If you arrive and realize you forgot something, don’t worry, we have equipment rental, select clothing rental, and a number of retail outlets that stock whatever you may need.

Dress like the locals, with warm layers. Wear layers of polypropylene, silk or wool, rather than cotton next to the skin and then put on waterproof outerwear. When purchasing socks, select ones that are specifically designed for skiing. They will keep your feet warmer and dryer than regular socks and only ever wear one pair of socks at a time.

1. How far is Big White Ski Resort from Kelowna?

Big White is located 56 km (35 miles) from Kelowna, about a 45-55 minute drive from Kelowna depending on road and weather conditions.

2. How do I get from Kelowna International Airport to Big White Ski Resort?

We offer private charters for 8 to 45 people and shuttles to Big White Ski Resort from Kelowna International Airport and Kelowna Greyhound Bus Station. All shuttles and private charters must be booked with the Groups Department at least 72 hours prior to arrival to ensure availability. Hire vehicles are also available in Kelowna.

3. What is check in and check out time at Big White Ski Resort?

Check in time is 4:00pm and check out time is 10:00am. If your group requires luggage storage or early check in or late check out, conditions and fees may apply. Please contact the Groups Department for further information.

4. Can I purchase groceries and liquor at Big White Ski Resort? 

Yes, from the Market and Deli that offers a wide selection of fresh fruit, vegetable, deli and non perishable items. Also available is a wide selection of wine, beer and liquor.

Also Vacation Food Services offers a service where guests can pre purchase groceries online for delivery into your unit prior to your arrival. Visit Vacation Food Services at www.vacationfoods.com for full details and ordering.

5. Parking 

On Mountain Groups: One parking space is available per unit as part of your accommodation booking and details are available in your check in information.

Day Groups: Car and bus parking is available in the Happy Valley parking lot.

6. Where do I pick up my lift, lesson, rental and activity tickets?

On Mountain Groups: Tickets will be pre-printed and ready for pick up at the front desk by the Group Leader upon check in.

Day Groups: Tickets will be pre-printed and if you are arriving in private vehicles the tickets can be collected from the Groups Department at Central Mountain Check In. If the group is arriving in large passenger vans or buses a Groups Coordinator will meet your bus in the Happy Valley parking lot. Be sure to confirm your arrival time with the Groups Department on the morning of arrival and watch for them to assist with parking the bus.

7. Can I add any lift tickets, lessons or rentals to my package after booking?

On Mountain Groups: Your ticket order and full payment is due 15 days prior to arrival. Changes including additions or cancellations are permitted up to four days prior to arrival. Once your group has arrived at Big White Ski Resort, any additional lift tickets, lessons and rentals must be purchased from the Ticket Office at full retail prices.

Day Groups: Your ticket order and full payment is due ten days prior to arrival. Changes, including additions or cancellations are permitted up to 2 days prior to arrival. Once your group has arrived at Big White Ski Resort, any additional lift tickets, lessons or rentals must be purchased from the Ticket Office at full retail prices.

8. Where can I find rental equipment or retail items?

Our rental shop is located on the main floor in the Village Centre Mall in the village centre. From Happy Valley take Lara’s Gondola to the village centre, where you will exit at the Village Centre Mall and anyone of our staff can point you in the right direction.

A variety of retail venues are located upstairs and downstairs of the Village Centre Mall and throughout the village.

9. Where do I sign up for Ski School or Child Care programs?

On Mountain Groups: You can pre purchase vouchers for two hour adult/youth group lessons and half day/full day child group lessons through the Groups Department as part of your booking and receive the group discount. All ski school and day care options are available for pre purchase at retail rates through the Groups Department. Full payment is due 15 days prior to arrival. To register for the lesson, you will need to contact the Ski School at 1.866.491.9040 or visit them on arrival at the Ski and Board School Desk, located in the Village Centre Mall.

10. Where are food and beverage outlets available on mountain?

Big White Ski Resort has a wide variety of food and beverage options for your dining pleasure. From casual dining in one of the pubs, to an on-mountain bakery with fresh artisan breads and fine dining restaurants. The resort offers a feast of restaurants, lounges, coffee houses and delis with great food to dine-in or take out. There are a total of 17 restaurants, cafés and delis on the mountain, which includes eight lounges and bars. 11. How can I get information on Real Estate options at Big White Ski Resort?

Big White Ski Resort has many opportunities for you to live, play and invest in a ski resort home. Nestled in the pristine nature of BC’s mountains and forests, these properties are prime investments in a stunning environment. 12. Hours of Operation

Day Skiing: 8:45am to 3:30pm

Night Skiing: 5:00pm to 8:00pm Tuesday to Saturday weather permitting. Night Skiing times vary at different times of the season

Mega Snowcoaster: 2:00pm to 9:00pm on weekends and holidays, 4:00pm to 9:00pm on weekdays. Weather permitting

Ice Skating Rink: 11:00am to 9:00pm. Weather permitting

13. Storage and Lockers

On Mountain Groups: Small quantities of luggage can be stored at the front desk on your day of arrival or departure. For substantial luggage storage options please contact the Groups Department.

Day Groups: Day lockers are located downstairs in the Village Centre Mall, and downstairs at the Happy Valley Day Lodge.

14. Snow Hosts

Complimentary mountain tours are offered with our Snow Hosts. Meeting in the village centre at 10:30am.

15. I have lost my lift ticket what do I do?

All lift tickets printed by Big White Central Reservations have a tear off stub on the bottom. Please retain this stub and bring it to Central Mountain Check In, along with identification for your ticket to be reprinted. Without the stub we are unable to reprint tickets. Lost rental, lesson and other activity vouchers cannot be replaced. Please see our Lost Ticket Policy for additional information.
