The Kelowna Yacht Club was the site of the 5th annual “Variety Boat for Hope” this past Saturday June 20th. The Variety Boat for Hope provides children who have special needs with a fun-filled day on the water, where they can get a little wet, feel the breeze on their face and maybe even get into a little mischief. Parent’s and caregivers can also enjoy a fun and relaxing day, because we understand that for children and families who have special needs… not every day is smooth sailing The weather was spectacular and the turn out was amazing special needs children from around the valley showed up to a host of pirates and pirate boats and were treated to tours out on the lake. A barbecue sponsored by Nesters market provided plenty of fine food for all the little buccaneers and their families. The kids had a great time and took part in activities and games that were hosted by a hand full of volunteers who came down to support the kids.
The Big White team was on hand with all of their tents, PA system, the Carnival Games and our mascots, Loose Moose and Boomer. After helping with the setup everyone pitched in to show the kids a great time. Boomer and Loose Moose made a lot of new friends. The Kelowna Boys and Girls club did a great job and the Big White team was happy to be a small part of such a worthwhile event.
On Sunday the events team setup tents for the 11th Annual Boyd’s Autobody Father’s Day Car Show. The Show was bigger than ever, the threatening skies
didn't stop the several thousand people from showing up and checking out the amazing cars, bikes and boats, Entertainment was going all day at the Kerry Park stage and Boyd's had the barbecues going strong. All the money raised went to the Children's Ward at the Kelowna General Hospital. Big White has a strong commitment to community involvement and you will see the Big White tents, Loose Moose and Boomer or run into the events team, in Kelowna, almost every weekend throughout the summer and fall.
