This past weekend was another busy one for Big White Ski Resort out in the community.
On Friday and Saturday Big White supported the 19th annual Fat Cat’s Children’s Festival at Water front Park in Kelowna. The Fat Cat Festival was organized as an “opportunity for children and their families from throughout the region to get first-hand knowledge and exposure to the arts and to allow their creativity and imaginations to blossom.” Big White’s team set up tents and a sound system for the school’s day on Friday and then was on hand with the mascots, Loose Moose and Boomer for the Parade and festivities on Saturday. Loose Moose and Boomer had a hard time finishing off the parade as they were definitely the most popular mascots and there were a lot of children to hug! The weather held out despite the threat of thunderstorms and the festival was once again a huge success.
Big White has a strong commitment to community involvement and you will see the Big White tents, Loose Moose and Boomer or run into the events team, in Kelowna, almost every weekend throughout the summer and fall.
On Saturday and Sunday Big White was on hand to help with Fresh Air Experience’s 24thAnnual Women’s 5km walk/run and 10 km run in support of New Opportunities for Women Canada Society (NOW) . Registration took place on Saturday and the race was held up in East Kelowna on Sunday. The race was a huge success with 388 entrants and in attendance was Miss Canada International 2009, Catherine Thomas. Big White put up a huge draw prize of an all inclusive weekend for six. Josh Foster Big White’s Director of Skiing was on hand to award the prize to the lucky winner Natalie Livingstone of Kelowna.
