Mother Nature pulled out the sunshine for Big White Ski Resort as we were proud to host our first RBC Riders day this past Saturday April 4th. The fantastic Spring Conditions provided an epic backdrop for the 25 young snowboard enthusiasts enjoying a day of fun in TELUS Park. These future champions sported epic smiles as they were introduced to the snowboard cross and coaches Matt and Tom helped fine tune their riding skills throughout the many features in the park.
The RBC riders is a program executed by the Canadian Snowboard Federation and the Provincial/Territorial Snowboard Association designed to introduce the next generation of young athletes to the exciting sport of Snowboarding. Big White was thrilled to participate in this nation-wide program as part of an overall strategy to introduce skill development in a competitive context to young snowboarders - Canada's future champions. The course features are designed to facilitate the development of the “ABC” fundamental snowboard skills: Agility, Balance, and Coordination of jumping and turning.
"This was a truly great event, bringing young people together to celebrate and learn more about such a wonderful sport" commented Flynn Seddon, Director of Outdoor Events and Terrain Parks here at Big White Ski Resort. He summed up the day well when commenting that "Lots of smiling faces and fun was the order of the day."
