The Snow has fallen!! For those of you that check the webcams daily, we hope you shared our excitement yesterday morning as we woke to the beauty of our first fall snowfall. The snow provided a welcome reminder that winter is on it’s way – Can you believe it’s less than 7 weeks until our tentative opening day – November 27th!

Understandably, the snow wasn’t so exciting for the construction crews, who have been on overdrive completing summer projects and preparing for the winter! The Chateau Blanc begin their official slowdown today with most of the crew enjoying a well earned break! The remaining crew will begin dismantling the crane next week – this may be your last chance to see the crane on our live webcam . – with a reach of over 270 feet it’s well worth the look! We’re looking forward to the crew returning next summer!

Over at Stonegate work continues to be on schedule for an official December opening! The windows have been installed, and the crew continue working on the interior insulation and vapour barrier. Further work continues on the siding of the building as well as exterior trimming on the fourth floor. Electricians are also on site wiring all suites.

Down at the Edge the crew (still averaging 60 people!) are working on overtime ensuring all phase 3 buildings are completed to a close off stage for work to continue over the winter. The last concrete slab has been poured and framing work continues. The phase one units are receiving their final touches with granite counter tops now installed and plumbing fixtures expected to be in on Tuesday. Clean up preparations have began for the winter!

Outdoor operations have had a busy week as they continued brushing most runs, finishing up the summer grooming program. The arrival of our first NEW Pisten Bully Snow Cat had everyone talking this week and a few long, lingering lunches down at the cat shop! The Events team is preparing for a delicious Thanksgiving weekend with the annual Big White Community Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday in the Village Center Mall. Thank You to Ali Mooney and all those who have organized this fantastic annual event! Work has also began with an opening weekend brainstorming session with some great ideas resulting – stay tuned for this and new activities and events this season at Big White Ski Resort!
