While Canada and British Columbia are celebrating the Olympic Games in Vancouver you can be enjoying the wide open slopes of Big White and participate in the fun and pageantry of the Big White 2010 Games program. There is a different event to participate in every day, compete for your country and participate for fun, it’s going to be a magical time at the mountain. Best of all, the events are free to enter and you’ll see all the real games on TV’s throughout the resort. OPENING CEREMONIES ( Friday Feb 12th ) – At 5:00 pm Torchlight Parade led by flags from nations.
Ice Hockey (Saturday Feb 13th): Hockey target shot on the skating rink 4:00pm to 5:00 pm awards right after at Happy Valley.
Fun Race (Sunday Feb 14th): Family Fun Race setup on Lower Speculation. The race will start at 12:30 pm with awards to follow at 3:30 at Happy Valley
Curling ( Monday Feb 15th ): On the Ice Skating Rink at 4:00 pm. This will be a target shot with winners awarded at Happy Valley right after the event.
Luge ( Tuesday Feb 16th): Race set up in the Tubing Park. Timed race will start at 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm with awards at Happy Valley immediately after. Special winding course set for the tubes to go through.
Biathlon ( Wednesday Feb 17th ) Using alpine or Nordic skis skate a loop around the Adventure Park in Happy Valley and finish with a nerf gun target shoot. This will run from 4:00 pm and awards will follow at Happy Valley
Cross Country ( Thursday Feb 18th ): Starting at 4:00 pm there will be a short loop around the Adventure Park in Happy Valley There will be free Nordic rentals for the event. Awards at Happy Valley following the event.
Speed Skating (Friday Feb 19th): On the Skating rink starting at 4:00 pm there will be a speed skating event. A course will be set up and the race will be run in heats narrowing down each heat until we have a final. There will be free skate rental for this event. Awards will be held right after the event in the Happy Valley Daylodge.
Freestyle Skiing / Riding (Saturday Feb 20th - Saturday Evening): TELUS Park Rail Jam set up. This will be primarily a spectator event - entry by preregistration only. Registration will be in the Village between 1pm - 3pm or terrainparkevents@bigwhite.com. The Rail Jam will take place in TELUS Park starting at 6:00 pm with awards on site immediately after the event
Speed Skiing (Sunday Feb 21st): On Upper Paradise there will be a speed race with Radar Gun. The course will be suitable for beginners and up. Start time will be 1:00 pm and awards will be at Happy Valley at 3:30 pm.
Curling (Monday Feb 22nd): On the Ice Skating Rink at 4:00 pm. This will be a target shot with winners awarded at Happy Valley right after the event.
Luge (Tuesday Feb 23rd): Race set up in the Tubing Park. Timed race will start at 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm with awards at Happy Valley immediately after. Special winding course set for the tubes to go through.
Biathlon (Wednesday Feb 24th) Using alpine or Nordic skis skate out to the turnaround just past the base of the Bullet Chair and back to the Village Plaza where they will shoot a Nerf gun at a target. This will run from 4:00 pm and awards will follow at Happy Valley
Fun Race (Thursday Feb 25th): Family Fun Race setup on Lower Speculation. The race will start at 12:30 pm with awards to follow at 3:30 at Happy Valley
Ice Hockey (Friday Feb 26th): Hockey target shot on the skating rink 4:00pm to 5:00 pm awards right after at Happy Valley
Figure Skating (Saturday Feb 27th):CANCELLED Demonstration by local Figure skaters starting at 7:00 pm at the Happy Valley skating rink.
Snowcross Fun Race(Sunday Feb 28th): Skiing and snowboarding divisions in a Snowcross race starting at 1:00 pm. This will be a heat race narrowing down to a the final in each discipline. The awards will be at Happy Valley at 3:30 pm
CLOSING CEREMONY (Sunday Feb 28th)
The Flag garden will be removed and join us for a Closing Ceremonies party at Happy Valley. The Ceremonies will be on all of the TV screens and food and drink specials will be on for everyone.
