| At Big White, children are encouraged to reach their full potential in classes that are safe, fun and full of confidence for building on-mountain techniques. There are plenty of classes to choose from for kids of all ages and abilities. Plus, all Big White staff are fully trained, so there is no better place for kids to improve their skills in skiing and snowboarding.
The Kids Centre is structured to provide a safe learning environment for children to improve their skiing and boarding skills. It is our belief that once children feel safe, their comfort level is increased and then they are more receptive to learning new skills and meeting new challenges.
To enhance safety and comfort, the following items are highly recommended for children enrolled at the Kids Centre:
- Skis and snowboards that are in good working condition that have metal edges and bases/edges that have been tuned.
- Warm and waterproof ski clothes, extra mitts and socks, lightweight balaclava for under helmet.
- Ski goggles and/or sunglasses.
- Sunscreen and lip protection.
- Helmet – the Kids Centre does sign out helmets free of charge, but supplies are limited.
- All children in lesson programs require a lift ticket. Lift tickets are not included in lesson pricing.
Note: All equipment should be labeled with the child’s first name and last name or initial. We provide one name label for skis or snowboards per child upon registration.

The Kids Centre evening programs are intended to provide a fun time for children and also allow parents to enjoy a restaurant outing or sample some of Big White’s night life. Supervised programming at the Kids Centre includes: Dinner and Tubing at the Mega Snow Coaster; Hot Chocolate and Skating; and, Dinner and Activities Night with board games and movies. The best way to start children skiing! The Ski Cubs program gives children a positive ski experience by building their self-confidence with encouraging instructors in a fun setting. Ski Cubs offers smaller class ratios and has five ability levels that are well suited to children ages 4-6.
Includes: 2 hour morning and afternoon lessons, lunch, progress card, daily activities, pre-lesson supervision as early as 8:30 am.

A great way to start skiing for young children - especially those anxious about being away from a parent. A two hour semi-private lesson (child and parent, maximum of 3 pairs per lesson) that introduces your child to skiing, while at the same time provides you with tips on how to teach your child using games and fun activities.

An excellent choice for younger children, especially the 3 year old who wants to try skiing. Designed to give children a head start and individual attention with their own adopted instructor. Older children also appreciate the individualized instruction and instructor continuity. Lessons can be spaced over a few days or even the whole season, giving time for practice and improvement between lessons. Add up to three friends to create a semi-private experience.

This is not a beginner program: All participants must be confident riders or parallel skiers. Soar from the pipe and grind the rails in Big White’s TELUS Park. Learn the skills and go from average bro to almost pro, in this week long intensive park and pipe camp. This is a 5 day program running Monday through Friday. Each day consists of 4 hours of coaching, running from 10:00am to 12:00pm and 1:00pm to 3:00pm each day. Minimum requirement is three people per group and is available for ages 13-17. Advance reservations are strongly recommended. Helmets are required for all participants.
