Well folks another year has passed in TELUS park and it was a good one.
This past season showed one of the best parks we have had. The addition of the new rails, boxes and wall ride made a huge difference in our ability to try new set ups. Having Ben the groomer join or team and the repositioning of Sean Doucet to build director helped us complete more builds and experiment with the new features. Jay and our park and events crews did a great job keeping the park in mint condition and put on some great events.
Our goal for next year is to add a few new key features to round up or arsenal and to get our mini pipe situation figured out. So send in your best pictures and videos to bparsons@bigwhite.com we will get them up on the web for you. So until next December get out and skate, wake, and ride your brains out this summer.
Over and out,
Flynn Seddon
February 28, 2008 - Canadian Series Super Pipe Event
This past weekend Big White hosted The Canadian Series Super Pipe Event and it went off as a full success! We have a few words from the BC Freestyle Ski Coach Wade Garrod, and results from the competition. We would also love to give a big shout out to Rip Curl for their sponsorship of the event, they really helped us pull things off to their full potential.
"All day I have been receiving compliments about the Big White Canadian Series Super Pipe Event. I have to keep telling them that it was you (Flynn), Jay and the Big White Event crew that made things so good. The pipe, the fencing, the course maintenance, the on hill support made things very easy for us. This event made an impression on the freestyle skiers from across Canada. It had the organization and professionalism of an international event. I greatly appreciate all the time, effort and recourses Big White put into the Big White Super Pipe Double Header .We are super motivated to do more events at Big White now. Freestyle Ski Athletes from across Canada now know Big White is the place to come for ski events. "

February 4, 2008 - BCSA's Snowboard Cross
Big White was buzzing with action this Feb.2-3 as the best snowboard cross racers descended on the mountain to do battle.
Big White hosted the BCSA's (British Columbia Snowboard Association) double header event. There was an international field of riders and a great representation from all the provinces.
Racers from Canada, USA, Japan, Ireland, Brazil, Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand all battled it out. British Columbia’s First Nation Snowboard Team brought a strong contingent of riders to the event as well.
The competitive level the BCSA event had a great showing of recreational riders and people who came out to give snowboard cross a try. Age categories for under 14, 15 to 18 and over 19 riders were all very well attended.
Big White once again provided a great competitive venue and proved why the resort remains one of the country's top event hosts.
“The support Big White gives to amateur snowboarders is hard to beat,” said Flynn Seddon, Director of Terrain Park and Events. “With out a place to do events, kids would not have the chance to enjoy the benefits of the snowboard community. It is a very positive environment that the snowboard events have which really separates it from other traditional sports.”
January 28, 2008 - Super Pipe is Open!
Cold temperatures allowed us to produce some man made snow. With a great effort from our grooming staff, the Super Pipe is up and ready to ride! With a little fine tuning we will have one of the best super pipes in Western Canada.
Come check out the top amateur snowboarders compete this Saturday and Sunday in the BCSA's Boardercross Doubleheader.

The Terrain park is undergoing some changes this week. We have amped up the small park and have added the long awaited DV8 Wall Ride. The crew will get it dialed in and ready to ride this week.

The January 12th Telus park rail jam brought a heavy group of skiers and boarders to Big White for a cool evening Jam session. A limited entry of 40 gathered to grind their brains out in the park that night.
We built a sweet four rail box combo that proved to be fun for all involved. With a lot of rider input and the fact we actually got some new boxes from Snow Park Solutions made it all come together. Skiers and snowboarders were definitely throwing down a ton of new combinations and the set up allowed everyone to get creative.
Every one was stoked as we had $800 bucks to give out to the top Men and women skiers and snowboarders of the night. 1st place took home $125, 2nd $50, and 3rd $25. A Nintendo DS system was drawn from all the people who entered and Lindsay Patridge took that prize home.
