It's been a week of bluebird skies and temperatures have been on the rise.
Cruz the Blues is taking place this weekend, with skiers and riders of all skill levels joining the fun. Cruz the Blues is a family-friendly event and the perfect way to explore the mountain. To play, skiers and riders simply pick up a Cruz the Blues boarding pass at the Concierge Desk, then hit the slopes! Participants take their pass to each blue run, explore and locate the sign and write down the corresponding letter to discover the secret phrases. Everyone who takes part in Cruz the Blues wins a FREE t-shirt and gets to attend the closing ceremonies for their chance to win great prizes.
BCSB's Ride On Provincial Series Snowboard Cross Competition is also taking place this weekend in TELUS Park. To watch, just hop on Bullet Chair and you can catch all the action from above as racers speed down TELUS Park's snowboard cross track.
In weather news, Big White mountain experienced a rather noticeable temperature inversion today. With the clouds hanging low in the valley, the top of the mountain was almost seven degrees warmer than the Village.
But the most exciting news of the day was the big announcement about Falcon Chair- which will now be spinning seven days a week for the rest of the season!
Historically, the Falcon Chair has only run on Saturdays and Sundays, or daily during holiday periods. This will be the first time in ten years that the double-seater chair has operated on a daily basis.
The Falcon Chair has a rich history – it was originally put in as the Ridge Chair in 1970, and replaced with the current Ridge Chair in 1989. In 1992, the Mountain Operations team put the double-seater in its current position and renamed it the Falcon Chair.
