New Snow + Ski Shows = Brisk Sales

Posted On: October 25, 2012 |
Big White Ski Resort near Kelowna, BC is reporting brisk tourism sales of its winter accommodation and ski product. With new snow at nearly every BC resort, consumers are starting to secure their place for a winter ski holiday. “Sales at Big White Central Reservations were reported up substantially after Monday’s 15cm snowfall,” commented Michael J Ballingall, Senior Vice President, Big White Ski Resort Ltd. “The phones, emails and paid deposits are significantly higher than this time last year. Ontario, Australia, Hawaii, Alberta and BC have all proven to be target rich geographical locations for Big White Ski Resort,” continued Ballingall.

This weekend will see Big White attending no fewer than 5 travel trade shows in London, England, Seattle, Washington, Spokane, Washington, Vancouver, and Edmonton. “Staff on the road is a brilliant way to develop one on one relationships with interested consumers looking for the ultimate winter getaway,” said Jim Loyd, Director of Sales, Big White Ski Resort Ltd. from London, England. “With the help of Air Canada’s positive pricing strategy to Kelowna we have seen an upswing of interest from holiday makers requesting quotes for 7 and 14 day holidays.”

Big White’s annual job fair will also be held this weekend in Kelowna at the Best Western Hotel, Friday and Saturday. At least 800 seasonal staff will be hired over the 2 days with most recruits from Australia, the UK, France, Germany, Canada and New Zealand.

Big White Ski Resort is scheduled to open December 1st, 2012 or sooner if snow permits. Finishing touches are being done to Food & beverage locations at the Ridge Day Lodge, the Happy Valley Day Lodge, the Moonlight Bistro located at the base of Gem Lake Express, and the Black Diamond Bar & Grill located at the Chateau Big White. A new Pisten Bully Park grooming machine, a new snow-making gun, summer grooming on Sundance, Millie’s Mile and Homerun will all be ready to go by opening day. “We’ve almost broken our largest season pass sale record of 2011,” said Blair Ireland, Director of Brand Experience. “Local skiers and snowboarders are chomping at the bit to get on the mountain. People are still calling looking to get the early bird season pass discount as the new snow has really ignited their passion,” continued Ireland.
