It is the 10th Anniversary of the Okanagan Mountain Fire and it’s time to celebrate the amazing trail and history.

Taking Tuning to the Next Level with Wintersteiger Mercury Tuning Machine

Big White Ski Resort is excited to announce the purchase of a Wintersteiger Mercury Ski Tuning machine. This state-of-the-art $300,000, robot is the only one of its kind in the Okanagan Valley. Specialty skis require precision maintenance. Today's equipment has specific tolerances, including edge bevels, base structures and edge finishes that are designed to increase the performance and rideability of our guest’s equipment. Learning to ski will come easier to our customers due to a consistent precision tuning of Big White’s rental fleet which will be exclusively maintained by the Wintersteiger Mercury robot. This advanced piece of robotic tuning equipment offers guests of the resort the highest maintained rental fleet in the Okanagan Valley.

Record Snow at Big White - 305cm Base!

With one week left in the ski season we have surpassed the 3 meter base mark, one of the highest bases the mountain has seen in the past 15 years! As all other mountains are closed for the season Big White has the powder people are searching for. Receiving over 51 cm in the last 7 days the conditions on the mountain are outstanding. Big White has had an abundance of snow receiving over 840cm of World famous Okanagan champagne powder over the course of the season.

One of the best times to go bump skiing is in the spring. Spring skiing enthusiasts called the snow conditions that you sometimes get at that time of year “corn” snow because of its kernel like texture. This type of snow makes the bumps really soft and exciting to ski because when you hit them they often explode like popcorn popping.

It was an incredible week at Big White Ski Resort, where the Sport Chek Canadian Snowboard Cross Championships took place. This year’s Canadian Championships held a strong contingent of competitors with some excellent racing by the next generation of Canadian Snowboardcross riders.
