Big White Offers Winter Fun for the Whole Family
Canada's most family friendly resort caters to every age
Canada's most family friendly ski resort is offering up even more kid-tested, winter-themed fun this season. With opening day on November 27th, now is the time to gear up and plan this winter's getaway.
Big White Ski Resort, Canada's largest ski-in, ski-out resort, is unveiling several new activities this upcoming season that'll thrill (and sometimes chill) families of all ages. Big White is proud to open the Ogogpogo Adventure Trail, an excursion built just for little snow bunnies. Ogopogo is a mythical sea creature that First Nations people believe inhabits nearby Lake Okanagan. The resorts trail features a large entranceway allowing kids to ski through the mouth of Ogopogo and then travel down the trail through arches that mimic the shape of Ogopogo's body.
The resort has received top honours for offering up this and other types winter-themed fun for the whole family. Snow Action Magazine in Australia named Big White its 2014 Family Ski Resort of the Year, and the resort made the Out & About with Kids Best of Family Awards list as their pick for the 2014 Best International Family Ski Resort.
But simply hitting the resort's many runs is just the beginning. Whether the mini-me loves the slopes, ice-skating or even ice climbing, Big White Ski Resort has an activity to suit every taste. Group ski lessons at the Big White Kids Centre occur daily for children aged 3-12, catering to all ability levels. Parents can rest assured their little ones are under constant supervision. Children enrolled in lessons are equipped with the Flaik GPS system, which not only tracks kids all over the mountain, but also allows children to share stats with their parents, including where they went, how much vertical they skied or boarded and their average speed.
The Tot Town Daycare, voted "best place to be abandoned by your parents" by Ski Canada Magazine, accommodates the youngest members of the family, with programs for children aged 18 months to five years. One of the most popular programs is the daycare-plus option, allowing kids in all-day care to have either a one-hour private lesson or a two-hour group lesson during the day.
Big White not only caters to the young, but also their weary parents. Take the morning hustle out of getting the kids ready for their lessons with the resort's pickup service. This 'parent saving service' offers instructors to stop by and pick the little ones up at their doorsteps, leaving parents time to get a little extra shut eye or hit the mountain themselves. And to help parents who'd like some alone time after a day of shredding the slopes, the Kids Centre After Dark programs allow parents to kick off their boots and relax while children are fed and kept active with opportunities to be supervised tubing, skating, snowshoeing, and/or ice climbing.
With the slopes opening on November 27, now is the time to book.
