Carvers had been operating in Kelowna for several years. Ruby and Allahdin Murij started is as a family restaurant. Run by their two children and their parents. They knew enough even then to employ a trained chef. But recently their son, Sayyad, has taken over the kitchen himself. His standards are very high and everything is made in the kitchen, even the salad dressing. The menu is sting on the classic Indian dishes, but the kitchen is equally at home with things like chicken pot-pie, home-smoked lamb burgers and English trifle. Canadian breakfasts too are a specialty. People write to is about the butter chicken and the vindaloos, but in fact all the curries are carefully spiced. The naan is a delight and the service is caring (especially when children are at the table). The restaurant has big windows from which you can see the hills on all sides. There’s a large selection of Okanagan wines and Indian beers in the cellar, but we think you’ll do just as well with the sweet lassi.
