Sweet Tooth’s Guide to Big White
Photo: S'mores at Globe
It’s not just about the snow at Big White. With many restaurants and cafes across the mountain, food heaven for your tastebuds can be found in just about every corner.
We’ve put together a list for those with a sweet tooth to enjoy - if you’re a fan of cookies, cakes, waffles and all the rest, print off this list and let it lead you around the mountain.
1. Candy at The Loose Moose Emporium
The Loose Moose Emporium is chock-full of kids ski and snowboard gear, souvenirs and… CANDY. There’s a huge range of international candy options, including a huge pick & mix section of fresh candy. Go home with some sugary Lego blocks, gummy bears or even a gummy shark or two…
2. Table Top S’mores at Globe Cafe and Tapas Bar
Giant homemade marshmallows. Rich chocolate ganache. Graham crackers. Your own personal table-top fire pit. Need we say more? These s’mores are the perfect end to a magical day on the slopes. You have our permission to skip dinner and go straight to these.
3. Donuts at The Bakery
It’s hard to walk past the pink donuts at the bakery. Freshly baked every morning and covered in sprinkles, they’re the perfect thing to eat as you strap into your snowboard or clip into your skis. If you’re not a donut fan, there are also muffins, croissants, cookies and many other options available…
4. Cotton Candy at Carnival Night
Visit the Village Centre Mall on Thursday and Saturday nights and sneak yourself some cotton candy…. it’s free!
5. Baked goods at The Frosted Snowflake
Who wants a cookie in the shape of a winter sweater? Or a cake pop? How about a brownie? It’s all available at the Frosted Snowflake, one of the newest additions to the mountain and one of the best places to get a sugar hit.
6. Baked Alaska at the Kettle Valley Steakhouse
Who wants house-churned espresso ice cream & lemon sorbet, sandwiched between vanilla genoise, topped with Italian meringue and flambeed, table side? Yeah, everybody? We thought so.
7. Gun Barrel Coffee at Gunbarrel Grill
What do you get when you combine brandy, Grand Marnier, Creme de Caceo, fresh coffee, fresh whipped cream and a shotgun? The famous gun barrel coffee, of course. A show and a drink in one, this is the ideal nightcap after a busy day on the slopes.
8. Belgian Waffles at Sk8ers
There’s a variety of authentic waffles to choose from, but here’s our hot tip: the one with the magnum in the middle is the winner.
9. Chocolate Utopia at Sante Bar and Grill
Not one, but six layers of chocolate cake - all filled and wrapped with fudgy chocolate icing. Pair it with one of their dessert wines or alcoholic hot drinks and enjoy.
10. Spoons Ice-Cream
If there’s one thing to do at Big White, it’s to sample Big White’s first ice cream company: Spoons. All-natural, locally owned and operated from the Okanagan Highlands, the team at Spoons has produced flavours inspired by both the hot summers and crisp winters of our backyard.
Which of these desserts will you be sampling this winter?
