The new ice climbing tower is ready for water and sub 0 temps! The ice climbing tower is located in the Happy Valley Adventure Center, behind the cabins near the Mini Z’s track. The tower is over 18 m tall (60′). The logs that make up the super structure were sustainably collected locally. The logs were ‘blow down’ in an area adjacent to a forest fire a couple of years ago. This tower looks really cool and I can’t wait to try it this winter.
Elsewhere on the mountain, everything is moving along well. Here at the Cat Shop we have crews working tracks for the snowcats. Our new cat has been reassembled and ready to go. The millwrights are getting ready to load test Lara’s Gondola and have the inspections on the few remaining lifts.
The light is almost at the end of the tunnel for the Gigi’s renovation. It’s looking great. The carpenters have a new project that is taking up lots of their time now. The Quickpics location is being changed into a children’s clothing & gear retail store. This project is turning into a much larger one than previously anticipated, but they are managing! Don’t worry Quickpics hasn’t left the mountain, it is just changing locations.
Quickpics and The Market are teaming for a new store in the Whitefoot Lodge, where Peaks use to be. I’m not sure of all the details of this store yet. I’m sure we will all find out before the mountain opens for the season.
The Market, Snow Shoe Sam’s and Rakkels are open. The Market is open for our coffee breaks and lunch, they also have a limited selection in their liquor store. Sam’s & Rakkels are open for your evening/late night enjoyment!
The forecast is calling for snow at higher elevations at the end of the week. Start dancing!
