Canadian Ski Patrol Recruitment Night
The annual recruitment night is September 3rd, Ramada Inn 7 pm. On this night CSP will be recruiting for Big White Ski Resort, Crystal Mountain, Telemark Cross Country Ski Club. Members will be able to answer general question about volunteer patrolling as well.
Who can join CSP? Anyone who is 18 or older and is a strong intermediate to advanced skier, snowboarder, telemarker or Nordic skier.
What shifts are available? Weekdays and weekends, with a few night shifts.
What is the commitment? The first year has the biggest commitment. The CSP first aid course runs Tuesday and Thursday evenings in September and October. It is an approximately 80 hour first aid course. Two lift evacuation practices are also required. There is also a ski/board testing requirement and an onhill training session. Then thirteen shifts are required during the season.
What are the benefits? Great friends, belonging to a great organization, helping out in a sport that you love! First year Big White Patrollers get a volunteer staff pass. There are also discounts with the resort. You also get great first aid training and practical experience. Patrollers also have use of the Mountain Medical Patrol Hut.
The Ski Swap is on September 19th - 21st at the Kelowna Curling Club.
